Kendon Packaging: a Magento storefront, a Flutter mobile app and a multi-brand catalogue in six months

For Kendon Packaging Group, a UK packaging manufacturer and converter with several product brands, we built a Magento (Adobe Commerce) storefront with a companion Flutter mobile app for iOS and Android, multi-site management and product management, delivered by a team of eight in six months.

The situation

Kendon Packaging Group PLC has supplied packaging to British businesses since 1933 and is today one of the UK's larger manufacturers, converters and importers of packaging: cartons, tapes, protective wrap, food-grade papers and more, sold under several product brands to sectors from logistics and catering to manufacturing and e-commerce, from a head office in Enfield and sites in Nottingham, Cheltenham, West Yorkshire and Sunderland.

The brief was a single Magento platform that could carry a catalogue of well over a thousand products across the group's brands and sectors, serve customers on the web and on their phones, and be run day to day by Kendon's own team.

What we built

A new storefront on Magento (Adobe Commerce), with multi-site management so the group can run its product brands and sectors from one installation, and product management set up so the catalogue is maintained by Kendon's own team rather than by us.

Alongside the web store, a customer mobile app built in Flutter, one codebase for iOS and Android, sharing the same catalogue, pricing and customer records as the storefront through Magento's APIs.

Delivery ran the way every Expericia programme does: a discovery phase to fix the catalogue model, the brand and site structure and the integration list, then weekly working builds reviewed with Kendon, then a handover in which Kendon's team was trained to manage products, brands and content without us.

The outcome

Eight developers took the programme from kick-off to launch in six months, and delivered it as one piece: the Magento storefront, the multi-site setup for the group's brands, product management in the hands of Kendon's team, and the Flutter app for iOS and Android on the same catalogue, prices and customer records.
